By now we've all heard that Pantone's Color of the Year for 2014 is Radiant Orchid...
...Radiant Orchid???
While I was surfing the web to see if decorators have figured out how to use Radiant Orchid in real homes yet, I came across an interesting article...
Here's What Your Pantone Birthday Color Says About You.
The authors suggest colors that best reflect your personality based on your date of birth. You can check the color for your birth month here.

According to the book, Colorstrology: What Your Birthday Color Says About You, "Colorstrology is a blend of astrology, numerology, and color theory that offers exciting new insights about our lives and relationships. Written by renowned astrologer Michele Bernhardt with the artists at Pantone, Inc., the global authority on color, the system features 366 "birthday colors" that illustrate who we are and how we behave."
Here's my birthday color: Cerulean.
It just doesn't feel like "me". So...

I'm officially changing my birthday from October 25th to August 25th.
I like this Sun Orange much better!

Meantime, I'm still trying to picture myself incorporating Radiant Orchid into my home with all of its oranges and earth colors...

I am not a purple/mauve person at all so I won't be injecting that colour into my decor unless it's in a flowered dish or flowers. :) Although I just happen to be wearing a mauve sweatshirt today but it's not in my decor. lol I have been adding some spring colours lately like yellow and green just to warm the place up and add some cheer to the season. I'll add more pastels toward Easter too. I wonder what July's colour is. The cerulean blue is quite pretty.
ReplyDeleteHi Pamela,
ReplyDeleteYou can click on the link above to see the colors for each month. The color for July is called "Coral Blush" but looks more like pale pink. The personality traits associated with Coral Blush are listed as "Soothing", "Receptive" and "Nurturing". Kind of fun! Thanks for always commenting on my posts...nice to know someone is reading. Happy Sunday! Cheryl
Hmmm....well, January sounds like me, but I like the blue or green colors much better!!! Radiant Orchid is a bit overwhelming to me....I like the 2013 color, Emerald, much better. I guess Pantone can't please all of us every year, can they?
ReplyDeleteI just got back from the coach outlet and bought a new purse in the new Pantone's color radiant orchid. Luv this color hope it goes with most of my spring outfits. I guess the old saying"when you get old I will wear purple". gosh I hope that's not me.
ReplyDeleteAs for the birthday color as you know Cheryl I am Oct also and I have a lot of blue in my house. It's not a
color that I always wear but I must like the calmness of it. Thanks for the blog I luv it. See you soon. Luv Claudia
