Saturday at the ReStore

Saturday morning.
 Time for errands.
And a stop at the Habitat for Humanity ReStore.

These old library card catalog drawers were only $5.00 each.
Remember when we actually used them to find books?
They'd make great craft room storage
or display pieces for collections of vintage postcards or Valentines.

Weathered, Worn, Wobbly & Priceless

Literally "priceless". This chippy and many-times-repaired garage sale "leftover" was in the FREE pile at the side of a nearby road. Needless to say, I threw on the brakes and had this baby in the back of my little Suburu in under a minute!

I'd been looking for just the right thing to use to raise the planter next to the steps to our deck.

I knew the minute I saw it that this little stool was perfect. Even the color was right.

Fat Quarter Projects

Being in a quilt group, has encouraged me to organize my fat quarters and fabric remnants and think about what I might create with them.

Most of us who sew end up with a "stash" of beautiful fabrics we bought just because we loved them, with no particular project in mind. I'm definitely guilty!

Our Cobblestone Quilters group just had the reveal of our Brown Bag projects. The challenge was to make something wonderful for another quilter with only five fat quarters. I made this bag.

Downsizing in the Garden

Now that Spring is here, we realize that we're not quite done downsizing.
We almost forgot that we need to downsize outside as well.

Gone are the three acres, trails through the woods, pool, fruit trees, and potting shed. So it's Goodbye to the lawn tractor, wheel barrow, and hoses for every occasion. Goodbye to the garden benches, broken, lawn chairs, yard art, soccer balls and pool noodles.

The Thrill Is Gone

Remembering BB King tonight.

We first met BB after a concert at Bowdoin College in 1993. DH was in a kick-boxing group with the daughter of his manager so we were lucky to have been given backstage passes.  Although he didn't know us, BB was so welcoming and patient as we all posed for photos after photo.

We saw him again at a concert at Great Woods in Massachusetts in 1995.
I was wearing the World Tour band jacket he gave us; DH wore the matching hat.
